Dr. Sinu did MSc in Applied Zoology and PhD in Zoology (University of Calicut), and had been an Assistant Entomologist (Scientist-C) at Plant Protection Department in West Bengal, Senior /Research Associate, Adjunct Fellow and Post-Doctoral Fellow at ATREE, Bangalore. He was awarded DST Young Scientist, Ernst Mayr Grant (Harvard University), Conservation Research and Exploration Grant by National Geographic Society, USA. He has been elected as a Fellow of Royal entomological Society, London in 2009. He is a PI of 2 DST major R&D projects, and 1 National Tea Research Foundation project. He had been a Visiting fellow at California Academy of Sciences, Smithsonian Institute, Washington DC, University of Arizona; University of Berkeley, San Francisco, American Museum of Natural History (USA), British Natural History Museum, Hope Museum of Natural History (UK), and University of Gottingen (Germany). He is a reviewer of many prestigious journals, and a project evaluator of Critical Ecosystems Partnership Fund (Northeast Program). He was invited to give lectures at many international/national workshops, and he organised IBISCA round-table meeting in International Canopy Congress (2009). The wasp species Elachertus sinuii and Scenocharops sinuii are named after him. He has published 28 Research papers, 1 book chapter, and has made 12 national / international presentations..
