National Seminar on Recent Trends in Plant Science Held at Central University of Kerala


The Department of Plant Science, Central University of Kerala, successfully hosted a national seminar on Recent Trends in Plant Science, bringing together renowned experts, scholars, and students from across the country. The seminar, attended by over 130 participants, served as a platform for discussing the latest advancements, challenges, and innovations in the field of plant science. The event featured keynote lectures, paper presentations, and interactive sessions.

Prof. Vincent Mathew, Vice Chancellor (i/c) of the Central University of Kerala, inaugurated the seminar and emphasized the relevance of plant science in addressing contemporary scientific and environmental challenges. The seminar’s highlight was a keynote lecture by Prof. K.G. Sreejalekshmi from the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, Trivandrum, on the topic “Can Microgravity Help in Understanding Plant Biology?” 

The seminar also featured engaging lectures by eminent experts in the field. Dr. Mahipal Singh Shekhawat, Assistant Professor at Kanchi Mamunivar Government Institute, Pondicherry, delivered a lecture on “Emerging Trends in Growth-Stimulating Agents for In-Vitro Plant Development.” Additionally, Dr. Amit Kumar Singh, Assistant Professor at Delhi University, South Campus, spoke on “Role of Histone Modification During Meiosis and Plant Reproduction.” The seminar concluded with a valedictory session, where the Organizing Secretaries, Prof. Dennis Thomas T and Dr. Jasmine M. Shah, expressed their gratitude to the participants, speakers, and organizing committee members for their support in making the event a success.
