Kasaragod: In a historic achievement, the Central University of Kerala secured an A grade In National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) assessment. The university made remarkable progress by earning 3.14 points compared to that of the last grading in 2016 which the university secured B++ scoring 2.76 points. Points increased in the areas of Curricular Aspects, Research-Innovations and Extension, Infrastructure and Learning Resources, Governance-Leadership and Management and Institutional Values and Best Practices.

NAAC inspection was conducted from 21 to the 23rd of this month under the leadership of Mizoram University Vice Chancellor Prof. K.R.S.Sambasiva Rao. The six-member committee appreciated the progress made by the university in various fields. It is significant that Central University of Kerala, established in 2009, managed to achieve an A grade within a short span of time. Following the improved grading, the university will now get permission to start distance education and online courses. The university can also sign MoUs and collaborate with Foreign Universities. Apart from this, there will also be an increase in financial assistance from UGC.

Tremendous efforts were made under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor Prof. H. Venkateshwarlu aiming to advance in NAAC grading. Appreciating the teachers and staff, the Vice-Chancellor said that the improvement in grading was the result of collective efforts. This is an indication that the Central University of Kerala has risen to the level of the best higher education institutions in the country. Securing an A grade in the second NAAC assessment is a major achievement, however, there is still more to go. The university is making efforts for the same, he added.
