As society is witnessing increasing violence against women, joint efforts are necessary to end such incidents, said Kannur District Development Commissioner D.R. Meghashree IAS. She was delivering the keynote address during the conclusion of the sixteen-day program organized at the Central University of Kerala as part of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
Discrimination and violence are obstacles to progress, development and equality in society. D.R. Meghashree also pointed out that women should be aware of their rights. The program was jointly organized by the Internal Complaints Committee, Women's Cell and Centre for Women's Studies. Registrar Dr. M. Muralidharan Nambiar inaugurated the event. Dr. Supriya presented the activity report.
Prize distribution was also held for the winners of various competitions. Dr. K.A. Germina welcomed the guests and Prof. Swapna S. Nair delivered the vote of thanks. Various cultural programs were also staged as part of the event. Competitions, student rallies, street plays, workshops etc. were organized on various days as part of sixteen-day programs.
