Competitions for the Vice Chancellor's Rolling Shield awarded to the best academic department as part of the 'Prerana' commenced at the Central University of Kerala. Students enthusiastically participated in the first competition, letter writing, that was held yesterday. Eight competitions such as Just a Minute, Elocution, Quiz, Debate, Essay Writing, Letter Writing, Cognitive Ability Test, and Poster Making are being conducted. Two students from each department will participate in the competitions. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place get points and cash awards. 

The Vice Chancellor's Rolling Shield will be awarded to the department with the most points by organizing Prerana Day in the month of March. Prerana was initiated by the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Prof. H. Venkateshwarlu to enhance academic excellence and encourage the creative abilities of students. The committee headed by Student Welfare Dean Prof. K. Arun Kumar as Chairman and Assistant Professor Dr. Shyam Prasad as Convener are leading the activities.
