Central University of Kerala Foundation Day: G20 presidency will lead India’s ascent to global leadership: Ambassador Ashok Sajjanhar


Periye: G20 presidency is an opportunity and a significant step for India towards global leadership, said Ambassador Ashok Sajjanhar. He was speaking on the occasion of the 14th foundation day of the Central University of Kerala. He said that India endeavours to make the G20 presidency a movement with people’s participation. Shri Ashok Sajjanhar has worked as Indian Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Latvia, and Sweden.

 

Even when the world is facing many challenges like economic depression and climate change, India is surging ahead as an economic power. Despite the challenges during the Covid period, the world has recognized India’s economic strength. India has become the pharmacy of the world by offering medicines and vaccines. We have seen that several countries came forward to thank India for the same. India can play a pivotal role in mitigating issues like climate change.

 

Ezhimala Naval Academy Deputy Commandant Rear Admiral Ajay D Theophilus delivered the keynote address. He said that the defence system is devised not only for war and it has other major tasks like ensuring safe trade and others. It is because of the country’s strong defence system and navy, the Indian waters have become one of the safest zones and free from piracy, he further explained. The CUK Vice-Chancellor Prof. H. Venkateshwarlu inaugurated the programme. The Registrar Dr. M. Muralidharan Nambiar, Dean Academic Prof. Amruth G Kumar, Officer on Special Duty Prof. Rajendra Pilankatta and International Relations and Politics Department Head Prof. R. Suresh were among the other speakers. The vice-chancellor also distributed awards for excellence.
