Resource Persons Training at Central University of Kerala for the Implementation of Digital Literacy in Kasaragod District


As part of the Total Digital Literacy Program implemented by the Kasaragod District Panchayat and Literacy Mission, computer science students and faculty members of Central University of Kerala were trained as volunteers. This digital literacy training program commenced at Sabarmati Hall of Central University on July 11, 2023, at 10 AM.

The program aims to equip common people with the necessary skills to access digital services from their homes. The training covers various aspects, including paying building tax and electricity bills, booking train and bus tickets, and conducting online financial transactions.

The training program  was presided over by Mr. Shanavas Padhoor, the Vice President of Kasaragod District Panchayat. Professor Vincent Mathew, the Vice-Chancellor-in-Charge and Dean of Research, inaugurated the training program. Mr. P.N. Babu, the District Coordinator of the Literacy Mission, provided an overview of the project.

Professor Jayasudha J.S, Head of the Department of Computer Science at Central University, delivered the welcome address. Mr. K. Sankaran Master, the KITE District Coordinator explained the program schedule and training methods. Dr. K Arun Kumar, the Dean of Student Welfare, expressed their willingness to involve the faculty members and students of Central University in the training process and provide the necessary support and cooperation to promote digital literacy.

Dr. Deepti K, Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science, expressed her gratitude for the program and the opportunity to collaborate with the District Panchayat in achieving 100 percent digital literacy. Sri. K. V. Manoj Kumar and Sri. Babu were the resource Persons from KITE for training the students and research scholars of the Department of Computer Science in Central University of Kerala.
