Central University of Kerala Pays Tribute to Late Vice Chancellor Prof. H. Venkateshwarlu


In a poignant gathering held at the Central University of Kerala on 30th October 2023, heartfelt tributes were paid to the late Vice Chancellor, Prof. H. Venkateshwarlu. As attendees shared memories of Prof. Venkateshwarlu, the profound impact he had on the institution and its people became evident. With tearful recollections, teachers and staff fondly remembered the transformative initiatives implemented by Prof. Venkateshwarlu during his three-year tenure.

 

Prof. Venkateshwarlu's demise is a great loss not only to the Central University of Kerala but also to the entire academic world, said Union Minister of State for Education Dr. Subhas Sarkar in a video message. ‘’He had foresight, strong convictions and a pragmatic approach and played a decisive role in the implementation of the New National Education Policy. He organized educational programs like Gyanotsav 2023 which turned out to be a landmark. He firmly believed that education has a major role to play in shaping the future of the nation and elevated the university to new heights’’, recalled Dr. Subhas Sarkar.

 

Speaking at the condolence meeting, Vice-Chancellor (i/c) Prof. K.C. Baiju recollected Prof. Venkateshwarlu's contributions during the pandemic. Due to his continuous efforts, the university has been able to advance in the NAAC ranking. Steps were taken to fill the vacancies of teachers and staff and to develop infrastructure, he added. With the demise of Prof Venkateshwarlu, we have lost a visionary academician, said Central University of Karnataka Vice-Chancellor Prof. Battu Satyanarayana.

 

The demise of Prof. Venkateshwarlu who implemented several projects in academic and administrative matters is a great loss to the university, said Registrar (i/c) Muthukumar Muthuchamy. Vivekavardhan, Prof. Vincent Mathew, Prof. K.A. Germina, Dr. Efthikar Ahamed B, Dr. S. Anbazhagi, Sureshan Kandathil, Dr. A.S. Kannan, Dr. Arathy Nair, S. Sreejith, Ashish Dubey, Asna Sulthana, Dr. E. Prasad, Dr. Uma Purushothaman, Prof. V.B. Sameer Kumar, Prof. M.N. Musthafa, Dr. Rishiram Ramanan, Dr. Prasad Pannian and others spoke on the occasion. To mark respect towards Prof. Venkateshwarlu the university declared a holiday after the condolence meeting.
