The International Conference on Emergent Phenomena and Quantum Technologies organised under the auspices of the Department of Physics started at the Central University of Kerala. Inaugurating the conference Hon'ble Vice Chancellor (i/c) Prof. K.C. Baiju pointed out that the development of science and technology is essential for the country's growth and to secure its position among the countries in the world. Emeritus Professor of Physics, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi Padma Shri Prof. T.V. Ramakrishnan delivered the keynote address on the topic "Self-Consistent Theory of the Infinitely Strongly Correlated Metal". The session which started with explaining the different backgrounds of these phenomena, was further focused on the future of quantum technology. The talk ended with an interactive session discussing the experimental studies on these phenomena.

Prof. Vincent Mathew, Dean, School of Physical Sciences presided. Prof. Sir Michael Pepper (FRS, FREng, HonFInstP, Pender Chair of Nanoelectronics, University College London, UK), and Prof. Swapna S. Nair (Dean, School of Cultural Studies) also spoke. Programme Convenor Prof. K.J. Thomas welcomed and Head of the Department of Physics Dr. E. Prasad proposed the vote of thanks. Prof. Vikram Tripathi (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai), Prof. Arindam Ghosh (Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore), Dr. Sujay Chakravarty (Scientist-F UGC-DAE Consortium for Scientific Research, Kalpakkam Node), Dr. Shilna K.V. (Central University of Kerala), and Liya Tony (Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology, Thrissur) led various sessions.
