The 10-day Tribal/Rural Camp for students from the Central University of Kerala concluded, providing participants with new insights and experiences. Named 'Oorarivu,' the camp was organized by first-year postgraduate students from the Social Work Department in Kuttikol Panchayat with the goal of gaining direct exposure to tribal hamlet life ('Ooru'). Commencing on November 22 with a rally, the camp featured expert-led sessions on Panchayat Structure, Waste Management, Rural Health, Women Empowerment, and the Importance of Education. Engaging with Urumooppans (tribal heads) provided students with a unique learning experience. The camp also included awareness programs and arts and cultural events involving local residents. The closing session, inaugurated by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor (i/c) Prof. K.C. Baiju, was presided over by Panchayat President H. Murali. Dr. M. Nagalingam (Head of the Department and Camp Coordinator), A. Bhaskaran (Principal, Kuttikol Govt. High School), K.T. Sukumaran (Kila Coordinator), Vysakh (District Secretary, Kerala Association of Professional Social Workers), Dr. Jilly John, Dr. Rajendra Baikadi, Dr. Raneesh, Ramanand Kodoth, Meera Krishna and Farhath Farook spoke on the occasion.
