International Conference on 'Environmental Mutagenesis: Impact on Biodiversity and Human Health in a Changing World'
The Central University of Kerala witnessed a momentous occasion as the 46th Annual Meeting of the Environmental Mutagen Society of India (EMSI) and the International Conference on "Environmental Mutagenesis: Impact on Biodiversity and Human Health in a Changing World" commenced on January 29, 2024.
The conference was officially inaugurated by Padma Shri Prof. R.C. Sobti, Former Vice Chancellor of Panjab University, Chandigarh. He stated that Kerala is a living laboratory and has the potential to achieve anything it desires. He complimented the Central University of Kerala for adopting an eco-friendly attitude for the conference. The presidential address, delivered by Prof. K.C. Baiju, Vice Chancellor (I/c) of the Central University of Kerala added gravitas to the occasion.
A speech was delivered by Prof. P.R. Sudhakaran, University of Kerala, highlighting the impact of nanoparticles on biodiversity and human health. Prof. V. Vasudev (University of Mysore), Dr. Birajalaxmi Das (Secretary, Environmental Mutagen Society of India), Prof. K. Arunkumar (Dean, School of Biological Sciences, CUK), Dr. Indrashis Bhattacharya (Head, Department of Zoology, CUK), Prof. K.V. Rajendran (Department of Zoology, CUK), Dr. H.P. Gurushankara (Department of Zoology, CUK) spoke on the occasion. The International Conference will continue until January 31, providing a platform for intensive discussions, collaborations, and the sharing of groundbreaking research in the field.
