A three-day national seminar organized by the Centre for Defence and Security Studies in collaboration with the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) has started at the Central University of Kerala. Indian Naval Academy Commandant Vice Admiral Vineet McCarty, AVSM inaugurated the seminar on India's National Security and the Emerging Security Scenario in the Indo-Pacific. In the inaugural address, he pointed out that the security of the Indo-Pacific region is very important.
Speaking during the event, former Director General of the Indian Coast Guard, Vice Admiral M.P. Muralidharan (Retd.) AVSM & BAR, NM said that the emerging situations in the region provide an opportunity for becoming a key player for India. Amb. Ashok Sajjanhar IFS (Retd.) stated that the Quad (Australia, India, Japan, and the US) should face the challenges together.
Vice Chancellor (i/c) Prof. K.C. Baiju presided over the event. Dean of the School of Global Studies Prof. K. Jayaprasad welcomed and the Head of the Department of International Relations and Politics Prof. R. Suresh proposed vote of thanks. Brig. Jeewan Rajpurohit, Cmde. Udai Rao, Dr. Rajiv Nayan (Dr. Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses), and Dr. V. Balakrishnan (Member Secretary, Biodiversity Board) conducted various sessions. The seminar will conclude on 14th March.
