Indian languages should be reinstated in education and employment for societal and economic advancement, asserted Prof. K.C. Baiju, Vice Chancellor (i/c) of the Central University of Kerala. He made these remarks while inaugurating the Conference on Indian Languages, a collaborative effort by the Department of Linguistics, Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti, and Vidyabhyasa Vikasa Kendram.

According to Prof. Baiju, achieving excellence in education and leading India to the forefront hinges on prioritizing those at the grassroots of society. He emphasized that embracing education in one's mother tongue not only serves as a scientific approach but also forms the bedrock of societal development. Prof. Baiju underscored the importance of fostering an environment conducive to the proliferation of Indian languages in universities and schools.

The event witnessed insights from various speakers, including A. Vinod, Member, National Monitoring Committee for Education (SC, ST, PWSN & Minority), Govt of India, who shared valuable commentary. Dr. S. Tennarasu presided over the conference, while Dr. G. Palanirajan extended a warm welcome, and Dr. Zam Ngaih Cing proposed vote of thanks. Throughout the sessions, luminaries such as Prof. Achuthsankar S. Nair, Prof. Muhammedunni Elias Musthafa, Dr. Sivaprasad, Dr. Thiyagu, Dr. Soumya, Dr. P. Sreekumar, and Dr. Girisha Bhat Ajakala offered their perspectives.
