Central University of Kerala to Establish Bamboo Forest


The Central University of Kerala, in collaboration with the Social Forestry Department, is initiating the development of a bamboo forest under the leadership of the Campus Development Committee. This eco-friendly project will span a two-acre site near the Health Centre on the Periya campus, with the planting of 500 bamboo saplings provided by the Forest Department. Smt. R. Keerthi IFS, Conservator of Forests,  Social Forestry Northern Region, inaugurated the project. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Campus Development Officer Dr. Tony Grace, Chairman Prof. A. Manikavelu, Dean Prof. D. Govinda Rao, Associate DSW Dr. P. Sreekumar, Range Forest Officers Solaman T. George and K. Gireesh, Deputy Range Forest Officer N.V. Sathyan, and Section Forest Officer P.C. Yeshoda, among others.
