Central University of Kerala Launches Swachhata Pakhwada

The Central University of Kerala has kicked off a series of events under the banner of "Swachhata Pakhwada," aiming to foster cleanliness and environmental sustainability. The initiative, scheduled from September 1 to 15, 2024, is part of a nationwide campaign inspired by the Prime Minister’s vision of making cleanliness "everyone’s business."

To ensure the success of the campaign, an extended committee has been established, with Dean of Students' Welfare, Prof. Rajendra Pilankatta, as the Chairman, NSS Coordinator Dr. S. Anbazhagi as the Convener, and Assistant Professor Dr. Reinhart Philip as the Joint Convener.

The campaign includes a wide range of activities, including cleaning public spaces like railway stations and school classrooms, organizing workshops, exhibitions, competitions, selfie booths, and signature collection drives. The university has also planned street plays, flash mobs, beach cleaning initiatives, a cleanliness rally, and pledge ceremonies to raise awareness among the community.

The campaign was inaugurated with a plantation drive led by Prof. Rajendra Pilankatta. Dr. Tony Grace, Campus Development Officer, along with several faculty members including Dr. S. Anbazhagi, actively participated in the event, highlighting the university’s commitment to promoting a cleaner and greener environment.
