CUK Pays Tribute to Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh

The Central University of Kerala expressed profound sorrow at the passing of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, a visionary leader whose commitment to education and the welfare of the common people transformed the higher education landscape of India. Hon'ble Vice Chancellor (i/c) Prof. Vincent Mathew, conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the university community, recognizing Dr. Singh's pivotal contributions to the institution's establishment and growth.

"Dr. Manmohan Singh was a leader who worked tirelessly to fulfill the dreams of the common people," remarked Prof. Mathew. He highlighted that the Central University of Kerala in Kasaragod was sanctioned under Dr. Singh's leadership in 2009, as part of an initiative to create 14 central universities across the country, focusing on backward districts to ensure equitable access to higher education. Kasaragod, one of Kerala’s most underdeveloped districts, was chosen for this initiative, bringing quality education to the region.

Dr. Singh also unveiled the plaque to commemorate the establishment of the university's Capital Centre in Thiruvananthapuram on 04 January 2014. "His foresight and dedication to uplifting underserved regions through education will always be remembered with gratitude," added Prof. Mathew.
