In a heartwarming gesture of social responsibility, the Central University of Kerala has helped K. Bindu, an outsourced employee of the university, realize her dream of owning a home. The keys to her newly constructed house were handed over by the Vice Chancellor (i/c), Prof. Vincent Mathew, during a ceremonial event at Periya. Prof. Mathew emphasized that it is the responsibility of society to extend support to those in need.
The 660-square-foot house, situated on five cents of land in Periya Nattankal, features two bedrooms, a kitchen, a hall, and toilets. Bindu, who is physically challenged, had previously been living in a rented house with her father, her sole source of support. Recognizing her family’s struggles, the university’s community initiated and completed the construction of the house, ensuring a safe and stable living environment for her.
The event was attended by Registrar Dr. M. Muralidharan Nambiar and Controller of Examinations Dr. R. Jayaprakash, who praised the collective effort and described it as a testament to the university’s commitment to social welfare. The project was overseen by a dedicated committee led by Dr. E. Prasad (Chairman), Dr. Rajeevan K. (President), Dr. P. Shiny and Sruthi K.V. (Treasurers), and members Dr. P. Senthilkumaran, Sreekanth V.K., Sreejith V., Dr. Gilbert Sebastian, Dr. T.K. Aneesh Kumar, and Dr. S. Anbazhagi. Their coordinated efforts ensured the timely completion of the house.
