National Conference on Pollinators for Food Security Begins at CUK


The three-day National Conference on Pollinators for Food Security, organised by the Department of Zoology, Central University of Kerala (CUK), begins at the CUK campus. Prof. Vincent Mathew, Vice Chancellor (i/c), inaugurated the conference. Prof. K. Arunkumar, Dean, School of Biological Sciences, presided over the event. The keynote address, Pollination Biology in the Anthropocene, was delivered by Prof. Renee Borges from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. The First Parthiba Basu Memorial Lecture was presented by Prof. K.R. Shivanna, Retired Professor from Delhi University, who spoke on the Importance of Pollination in Sustenance of Biodiversity and Food Security with Particular Reference to India. Dr. Indrashis Bhattacharya, Prof. V.V. Belavadi, and Dr. P.A. Sinu spoke on the occasion. The conference, which focuses on the critical role of pollinators in biodiversity and food security, will run until 9th January 2025.
