The Department of Yoga Studies, Central University of Kerala, in collaboration with the Department of Management Studies, organized an invited lecture on “Indian Knowledge System: Exploring Inner Dimensions – Yoga, Spirituality, and Personality Development”. The guest speaker for the session was Bhakti Vinoda Swami Maharaj, Zonal Secretary of ISKCON Kerala. Swamiji shared valuable insights into yoga, spirituality, and personality development.
Swamiji explained that true yoga signifies a transition from material pursuits to spiritual awakening. Referencing the Patanjali Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita, he clarified that yoga is not merely a physical exercise but a path to understanding one’s essential nature. He elaborated on the three bodies in yoga—the physical, subtle, and causal—and their role in spiritual growth.
Expressing concern over the commercialization of yoga, Swamiji emphasized its true essence lies in discovering one’s identity and aligning with the inner self. He highlighted the importance of spirituality in personality development and added that material success should complement spiritual growth rather than overshadow it. The session commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Subramanya Pailoor, Head of the Department of Yoga Studies, and Dr. Arvind R. Gajakosh, Head of the Department of Management Studies. Dr. M. Anjaladevi and Mr. Jampala Ganesh Ranadheer coordinated the event.
