The Department of Public Health and Community Medicine at the Central University of Kerala organized a Country Workshop on Capacity Strengthening for Countries in the SEAR for 21st Century Health Promotion in collaboration with Mahidol University, Thailand. Prof. Vincent Mathew, Vice Chancellor (i/c) of the Central University of Kerala, inaugurated the program. The event featured notable speakers from India and Thailand who shared their insights on various aspects of health promotion.
Prof. Josyula K. Lakshmi from the Indian Institute of Public Health, Hyderabad, delivered a presentation on ‘Health Promotion Education and Training in India’. Prof. Supa Pengpid, Project Director and Deputy Dean for Research Strategy and Network Development at the Faculty of Public Health, Mahidol University, Thailand, provided an in-depth session on ‘Health Promotion Competency’.
Dr. Arun P.V. discussed strategies for implementing health promotion within Kerala's healthcare settings. Dr. Anju Ramachandran and Dr. Arya elaborated on health promotion in AYUSH settings in Kerala. A significant part of the workshop was a discussion among participants on strengthening capacity among health professionals, policymakers, and educators. Dr. Elezebeth Mathews delivered the welcome address and Dr. Jayalakshmi Rajeev proposed the vote of thanks.
