Three-Day Mathematics Workshop by Prof. A.M. Mathai at Central University of Kerala

The Department of Mathematics at the Central University of Kerala organized a three-day workshop featuring the distinguished Professor A.M. Mathai, Emeritus Professor at McGill University, Canada, and a founding member of the Department of Mathematics at CUK. The workshop, which focused on advanced mathematical concepts, was inaugurated by Prof. Vincent Mathew, Vice Chancellor (i/c), and witnessed active participation from students and faculty across multiple disciplines.

The first day covered the fundamentals of matrix variate analysis, while the second day introduced quadratic and bilinear forms, seamlessly building upon the previous concepts. The final day focused on Taylor series expansion and matrix differential operators, with Professor Mathai's engaging teaching style making even complex topics accessible to participants.

The workshop concluded with a valedictory ceremony attended by prominent dignitaries, including Prof. A. Sakthivel, Dean of the School of Physical Sciences; Prof. Saji T.G., Dean of the School of Business Studies; Dr. Shaini P., Head of the Mathematics Department; and faculty members from the Mathematics, Commerce, Tourism, and Computer Science departments.

A special moment of the ceremony was the celebration of Professor Mathai’s upcoming 90th birthday in April 2025. He was felicitated for his remarkable academic achievements and unwavering dedication to education. In his closing remarks, Professor Mathai shared insights from his lifelong teaching journey, inspiring the audience with his passion for mathematics and learning.
