There is a huge demand for Indian professionals in Australia, says Dr. Smriti Krishna, a scientist and career consultant at the University of Melbourne. She was delivering the keynote address at the International Webinar on 'Reaching Australia: The Higher Education and Career Opportunity' organized by the Department of English and Comparative Literature, Central University of Kerala.
Forty percent of Australia's population is foreign. Foreigners have great opportunities for higher education. Most institutions also offer scholarships. Indian students can get jobs in government institutions after completing two years of permanent residency after completing the courses. She opined that instead of relying on fake recruitment agencies, students should try to get higher education and jobs directly, through websites. Smriti provided the students with direct contact links and answered their queries.
The function was attended by selected students from various universities. Assistant Professor Dr. Efthikar Ahamed became the moderator. Dr. Joseph Koippally, the Head of Department, presided over the function. M.A. English students Meenakshi Raj, T.A. Amrita spoke.
