The Centre for Women’s Studies, Central University of Kerala hosted a two-day training programme on ‘We Think Digital - Digital Shakti 3.0’, a Digital Literacy and Online Safety Programme for Women jointly organized by the National Commission for Women, Facebook, Cyber Peace Foundation and Autobot Infosec on 28-29 October 2021. Prof. K. Arunkumar, Dean, Student Welfare at Central University of Kerala inaugurated the programme.
Day 1 session was on “Data Privacy & Social Media Safety” from 2-3:15 PM. Day 2 sessions were on “Cyberlaw, Cybercrime & Redressal” and “Cyber Ethics & Digital Wellbeing” from 2-4 PM. Mr. Kumar Vikram, Manager - Projects and Designs at Cyber Peace Foundation was the resource person for Session 1. Mr. Vikram enlightened the participants about types of data that should be kept private and how to secure private data. Awareness on fraudulent activities or cyber-attacks such as phishing, smishing, vishing, malware and spyware, how people fall prey to and how to recognize, prevent and report fraudulent activities and attacks in the cyberspace. The session ended with Q/A session where the participants enthusiastically shared their queries that were satisfactorily answered.
Mr. I.L. Narasimha Rao, a professional and renowned Cyber security expert & Senior Project Manager at Cyber Peace foundation was the resource person for Session 2 & 3. Mr. Rao promoted digital literacy among students and raised awareness about cybercrimes and ways to tackle them. He mentioned about the fake news, he also addressed possible solutions to deal with the fake news and tools to identify the fake news. He created awareness on reporting mechanisms of Cyber crimes and the authentic websites to report social media hacking issues. After the webinar, the discussion was routed to a Question-and-answer session in which faculty members and students raised their queries, and each of their queries was extensively deliberated upon. Dr. Supriya P, Coordinator, Centre for Women’s Studies at Central University of Kerala was the programme advisor. Dr. Vanitha C and Dr. Jayalakshmi Rajeev, members of the Executive Committee of Centre for Women’s Studies were the programme coordinators.
