World Environment Day celebration was organized by the Prakruti Club of the Central University of Kerala under the auspices of the National Service Scheme and the Department of Environmental Science. 

Vice-Chancellor Prof. H. Venkateshwarlu inaugurated the event at Periya Government Higher Secondary School. School headmaster P.S. Balachandran Nair presided over the function. Trees were planted and an awareness programme was conducted in another event held at Chalingal Mahatma Model Buds School. Various programmes will be organized in the coming days. 

The programme was attended by the Head of Environmental Science Prof. Dr. Muthukumar Muthuchami, NSS Unit 2 Program Officer; S. Anmbazhaki, teachers etc.
