CUK launches Prerna for promoting academic excellence
In a bid to promote academic excellence and bolster self-confidence among students, Central University of Kerala launched a unique programme named Prerana. The main objectives of the programme are to identify the interests of the students and promote their abilities. Inaugurating the event at Sabarmati Auditorium, Vice Chancellor Prof. H. Venkateshwarlu said that Prerana is an innovative initiative that fosters student learning and thinking outside the classroom. The world is changing, along with academic brilliance, students need to acquire corresponding skills too. The new generation should be able to bring changes to society and play the role of leaders. He also said that he believes Prerna will become a platform for that. Dean of Student Welfare Prof. K. Arun Kumar, Prerana Coordinators Dr. Shyam Prasad and Dr. T.J. Joseph, Placement Cell Director Dr. Joseph Koyippally also spoke during the event.
AIM:
Promoting academic excellence by inspiring the students to develop confidence in their abilities and skills, so that they will be able to explore their interests and grow in self-esteem.
OBJECTIVES:
• Support the students to identify their interests and to express themselves in a better way.
• Help the students to develop their minds and give them an opportunity to advance their skills and talents.
• Create a competitive environment and help them to learn time management, develop organizational skills and improve self-confidence.
• Expose the students to new activities and to new opportunities.
• Facilitate the development of social skills and relationships, and enhance neighbourhood cohesion.
FACILITATION:
Prerana will facilitate the above objectives by conducting competitions, training programmes, and other inspiring events, in association with the Placement Cell, NSS Cell and the Dean, Students Welfare.
• Periodic activities will be conducted like competitions on essay writing, quizzes, elocution, debates, Just-A Minute, etc. on general topics and current affairs.
• Training programmes will be conducted to facilitate the students to improve their organizational skills, social skills, inter-personal skills and self-confidence.
• Events will be organized both at the inter-departmental level within the University and also inter-collegiate and inter-University levels.
