Art Gallery and Museum
Universities are higher level educational institutions. In addition to providing facilities for teaching and research they have a significant role in community integration through the comprehensive development of youth's skills and knowledge in various fields. Universities disseminate knowledge treasure, ideas and thoughts to the community through measures like art gallery and museum, science museum, live workshops, seminars, webinars etc.
Art Gallery/museum is not only a room or building with some piece of art collection or sculpture collection but it is the place enriched with
culture heritage of the society /country, provides multiple opportunity for learning, entertainment, leisure, personal growth and improving
communication skills. Art gallery /museum significantly influence the society by changing thoughts, instilling moral values, and translating
experiences across the space and time. It brings communities together; reducing isolation and making people feel safer. It re-shape our world
into a better place where once again freedom of thoughts and real communication can be disseminated through art and the universal language of
realism. Around the globe, there is signature stating world class art gallery/museum, in all the top rated internationally reputed universities.
Coming to our university, CUK is located in Kasaragod district of Kerala which is place rich with cultural diversity and cultural heritage of our
country.
CUK is located in the north most district of Kerala, which hosts for diverse languages and cultural arts. The district is very naive with its rich
heritage of theyyam and yakshaganam. It's the land of culmination of seven languages, sapthabhashasangamabhoomi. The proposed museum is
going to be the launch pad for stimulating the thoughts and ideas about our neighborhood and its eminence to a global level. Establishment of a
world class arts museum will enhance the perception of the University in local, national and global level.
Stage 1 of the arts gallery, is installed with 5 feature walls, comprising arts prints of Raja Ravi Varma, Michal Angelo, Leonardo Davinci, Pablo
Picasso, and Van Gogh. Their four each works are displayed in those feature walls.
Apart from that, several theme walls are set, with focal themes like “Nature” , “Woman”, “Abstracts”, “Murals”, “Madhubani”, “Warli” etc.
A small Art museum is also set up, whose entrance is ornamented with the face sculptures of Pablo Picasso, and Michal Angelo. The museum
displays thematically, the cultural heritage of Kerala, especially the northern Kerala. “Kadhakali”, “Theyyam” and “Vallam Kali” is set as the
feature themes. “Kerala traditions” and “India in 1950s”, are set as other themes.
Apart from these, Coconut crafts, Madhubani Clay Arts, and Stamps & Currencies of more than 75 countries are collected and exhibited. Old
India, and international Coins etc. are also displayed.
